Henri Wintermans Slim Panatellas - Pack of 5

A straight-up tobacco flavour throughout, which tends to be fairly sweet to begin with and beefy in the back-half. It's pre-cut so no need for a cutter or punch, and easy to draw. It's machine made, so construction is good, and it gives a good, even burn - and you can get a good minute between draws. Ash tends to cling on for a good inch before the need for tapping. Burn time is approx 45 minutes. Big warning though - if it goes out, the taste gets really strong and bitter upon relighting, almost to an unsmokable extent. Gives a medium to full body, with plenty of smoke output. Aroma can be quite pungent whilst smoking, but has a good after-smell, if you like, afterwards.

The review below should say *not* hand-made, but machine made. Couldn't edit after posting.

These get a lot of bad write-ups because they are cheap, Dutch and hand-made. I can quite honestly say that, whilst I have tasted better quality cigars, my experience of these has never been bad. I am not a cigar snob by any means, and am not a "reviewer" or "connoisseur" - but I'll write honestly and as I find. For me, these Half Coronas do have something going on. They are not bland or cheap n nasty at all. What I get from them, pretty much every time, is a transition of tastes - starting off from a creamy coffee like taste that leaves a sweet tobacco finish in the first third, through to an almost sherbet-like sweetness in the middle that continues with the sweet finish, before bursting into a meaty final third that leaves a peppery taste on the tongue. Whilst that end may sound unappealing, it is not overpowering by any stretch of the imagination. It is medium-bodied and quite cool initially, but does develop into a slightly stronger finish at the end. Plenty of smoke output throughout too.

Just finished one of these half coronas and have to say honestly that it was ok, but not the best. I am a fan of the Henri Winterman range of cigars mainly because they are cheap enough to buy regularly (im not very rich), and so have tried most of the cafe creme and the slims, which were enjoyable. The first half corona I smoked had quite a bitter and strong taste that was not very enjoyable, but I was not sure if that was just that particular cigar. The second half corona I smoked was a little bit better, not as strong but still quite bitter towards the middle until the end. Think i'll stick to the cafe creme's for my source of cheap cigars in the future.
