Villiger Export Round Cigar - Pack of 5

I have never tried Villiger before, so a first for me! I do have to say I had initially an issue with trying to get the silver wrapper open, then discovered the tab further, it’s not in the place you’d naturally go for, so understand previous reviewers having this issue. They are fairly square, not the norm cigar. The smoking experience was ok, even burn etc, but the caveat for me was I found the smoking ends split fairly soon, in I was left with flakes in my mouth, which had to keep picking out, I hate doing this. I am not sure if purchase again, for price wise certain new world cigars hold a better more enjoyable smoke, IMHO.

Pourquoi n’est-il indiqué nulle part si les Villiger Premium 7 Sumatra sont ou non des cigares 100% tabac ?

These Villiger Premium No.7’s are excellent. The wrapper slips off easily using the pull tab like a packet of biscuits. Round with a ready done v cut, I found that the cigar burns very well, holding up to an inch of ash as I went. This smoke is very good and I can see why it has a reputation for quality at an affordable price. A lovely smooth draw and plenty of creamy smoke. The first third gave me flavours of almond with a very slight peppery spice underpinned by milky coffee with a splash of cream. Absolutely lovely. For me the low spice level was perfect. The second third brought some additional sweetness and mocha. Almond was still there but there was less cream and less spice. Very satisfying. The final third shifted gear - more spice and more bitterness but the bitterness was in an espresso coffee kind of way so not bad. Almond gave way to more of a Brazil nut note. At this point an aftertaste akin to dried cherry or cranberry began to come through. I also smoke the Villiger Maduros, which are also excellent, but a different richer and relatively heavier experience. These premium no.7’s are just so smooth and creamy. I would highly recommend. I still love the Maduros too though and both cigars have their place in my smoking calendar!

I think these Villiger Maduro Exports are great. Opening the box, unraveling the tissue wrapping and examining a cigar, I think the pre-lit aroma is stunning. I get leather, herbs and a hint of dark chocolate. Light it up and the first third for me is sweet cocoa, coffee and a mild peppery spice in the background. The second third and I get a spicier and more peppery flavour profile, rich and satisfying. The last third gives a duller flavour profile for me of coffee and spice - but still good. I tend to finish with a thumb’s width of the cigar left. The after taste really lingers for me and can only be described as sweet chocolate or coffee. Smoking time is about 25 minutes for me. I am really enjoying them. A good and relaxing experience and I will buy more.

Previous reviews I’ve read have made reference to difficulty opening the foil wrapper, this was unfortunately an issue with the person, not the product... trying to open the cigar from one of the ends would indeed be extremely difficult! However, there is an easy open ring, approx. 1/3 of the way down the foil wrapper, you just need to run your finger down the seal and find the divide then pull the easy open as if opening a packet of cigarettes or biscuits :) ultra-easy access and the wrapper either side of the easy open seal just pulls away. The cigar, unlit, has a lush chocolatey smell to it... it’s not 100% round, as I expected it to be, it seems to have been partially 'pressed' at some point in manufacture or packaging... however once lit the inch or so behind the lit cherry does re-form to be round and soften up as you’re smoking. It’s an enjoyable smoke, I just wish I could find a similar product with a higher ring gauge& longer length, as I don’t currently have a humidor so the fully sealed foil wrapper makes these ideal for me.

Very nice fairly slow burning full bodied cigars although the pressed shape is a little unusual at first. Sitting in the garden after dark with one of these in one hand a glass of rum in the other is one of life's little pleasures.
