Created in 1966 for President Fidel Castro, Cohiba cigars were crafted at the world-famous El Laguito factory in Havana – a once top-secret facility dedicated to producing the highest quality cigars for Cuban leaders and visiting diplomats. Released to the public in 1982, Cohiba quickly became the flagship of Habanos, renowned for its precision, craftsmanship, and distinctive taste.

The name Cohiba is derived from an ancient Taino Indian word meaning “tobacco”, used to describe the bunches of leaves first seen by Columbus being smoked by Cuba’s indigenous people – the earliest known form of a Habano. This deep heritage continues to shape the brand’s identity today.

Each cigar in this sampler is made from tobaccos sourced from the most select Vegas de Primera plantations in the San Juan y Martínez and San Luis districts of the Vuelta Abajo region. Unique to Cohiba, up to three of its filler leaves – seco, ligero, and the rare medio tiempo – undergo an additional fermentation in wooden barrels, enhancing smoothness and creating the signature aroma and flavour found only in Cohiba cigars.
