Quai d’Orsay Cigars were first created in 1973 to appeal to the growing French cigar market, which preferred a milder Cuban cigar with a lighter wrapper. To meet this demand, Quai d’Orsay introduced their Corona cigars wrapped in the distinctive Claro Claro wrapper. As this trend faded in the late 1980s, the Corona Claro was replaced by the Quai d’Orsay Corona Claro, a 5 5/8" Cuban cigar with a 42 ring gauge (143 x 16.67 mm).
Every Quai d’Orsay Cuban cigar is hand-rolled in Cuba using premium tobacco leaves from the world-renowned Vuelta Abajo region, ensuring a light, elegant and aromatic smoking experience.
The name Quai d’Orsay has several possible origins: it may reference the famous Parisian avenue Quai d’Orsay, the French Foreign Ministry located there, or the headquarters of SEITA (La Société Nationale d’Exploitation Industriel de Tabac et Allumettes).
Traditionally more popular in Europe, Quai d’Orsay cigars have recently gained recognition in the UK cigar market. Notable examples include the Quai d’Orsay Imperiales, a refined Churchill-sized cigar offering a light, sweet smoke. Typical Quai d’Orsay flavour notes are dry, aromatic and woody, with the Corona cigars delivering a mild yet flavourful profile.
Thanks to their smooth character and subtle complexity, Quai d’Orsay Cuban cigars are an excellent choice for beginners seeking a light Cuban cigar, as well as for aficionados who enjoy a refined and understated smoke.
