Ernesto is the son of acclaimed Cuban poet and writer Heberto Padilla, who was born in 1932 on his family’s tobacco plantation in Pinar del Río, Cuba – a region synonymous with some of the finest tobacco in the world. Heberto became one of the most significant literary voices of his generation, and his commitment to freedom and independence would later become an important part of the Padilla family story.
That heritage is reflected in cigars such as the celebrated Padilla 1932, named in honour of Heberto Padilla’s birth year, alongside renowned lines including Padilla Miami. The brand has earned considerable international recognition, with Padilla cigars appearing multiple times in Cigar Aficionado’s prestigious Top 25 Cigars of the Year.
