Born in Connecticut, home of the world’s finest Connecticut Shade tobacco, Melillo developed an early love for the craft. His journey led him to Nicaragua, where he immersed himself in the traditions of cigar making, working alongside farmers, selecting the finest leaves, and mastering the art of blending. After years as head of production and tobacco sourcing for one of Nicaragua’s largest cigar manufacturers, he launched Foundation Cigar Company in 2015, uniting old-world tradition with modern innovation.
