Founded in 1875, Romeo y Julieta takes its name from Shakespeare’s tragic lovers and quickly rose to international prominence under Don ‘Pepin’ Rodriguez, a gifted promoter who transformed the brand through the creative use of personalised cigar bands – over 20,000 different designs were produced during the brand’s golden age.
Sir Winston Churchill, one of the brand’s most famous admirers, helped to immortalise the name after his 1946 visit to Havana. His devotion inspired the creation of the world-famous Romeo y Julieta Churchill, a vitola that continues to define Cuban cigar excellence. In later years, the brand added modern interpretations – the Short Churchill (2006) and Wide Churchill (2010) – extending its legacy into the 21st century.
Each Romeo y Julieta Exhibition No.4 is hand-rolled using select tobaccos from the Vuelta Abajo region, renowned for producing the finest cigar leaf in the world.
