The Cohiba Esplendidos stands as one of the most distinguished and celebrated cigars in the world. Created in 1966 for President Fidel Castro, it was rolled at the now-iconic El Laguito factory and, for years, reserved exclusively for Cuban diplomats and visiting dignitaries. Only in 1982 was it released to the public in very limited numbers.

Cohiba is derived from the ancient Taino Indian term for the rolled bundles of tobacco first encountered by Columbus – the original form of the Cuban cigar.

This Churchill-sized masterpiece showcases Cohiba’s hallmark of excellence. The tobacco used is the “selection of selection” from five of the finest Vegas de Primera plantations in the San Juan y Martínez and San Luis districts of the Vuelta Abajo region. The filler leaves – seco, ligero, and the rare medio tiempo – undergo a unique third fermentation in wooden barrels, producing Cohiba’s distinctive smoothness, depth, and aromatic complexity.
