The name Cohiba is derived from an ancient Taino Indian word meaning “tobacco”, describing the bunches of leaves Columbus observed being smoked by Cuba’s indigenous people – the earliest form of a Habano. This heritage remains deeply ingrained in the brand’s identity and tradition.

Each Cohiba Siglo V Tubo is hand-rolled using tobaccos from the most select Vegas de Primera plantations in the San Juan y Martínez and San Luis districts of the Vuelta Abajo region, home to Cuba’s most prized tobacco fields. Cohiba’s unique process subjects up to three of its filler leaves – seco, ligero, and the rare medio tiempo – to a third fermentation in wooden barrels, enhancing depth, aroma, and consistency.
