Trinidad Cigars

Cigar strength: medium

Trinidad cigars take their name from the beautiful 16th-century Cuban city of La Santísima Trinidad (The Holy Trinity), a UNESCO World Heritage Site located on Cuba’s south coast.

As a Habano brand, Trinidad was established in 1969 and, like Cohiba, was originally reserved exclusively for diplomatic gifts. For decades, these prized cigars were unattainable to the wider public. It was not until 1998 that Trinidad was released for general sale—and even then only in very limited quantities. At the time, the range consisted of just one vitola: the legendary Trinidad Fundadores.

In 2003, three new sizes were introduced—the Trinidad Reyes, Trinidad Coloniales, and Trinidad Robusto Extra—expanding the brand’s offering. The launch was accompanied by a refreshed livery and updated cigar bands to reflect the prestige associated with the name. Most recently, in 2009, the Trinidad Robustos T was added to the lineup, further cementing its place as one of Cuba’s most refined cigar marques.

For many years, Trinidad Cuban cigars were rolled at the famous El Laguito factory, home of Cohiba, where the brand’s unique medium-flavoured blend of Vuelta Abajo filler and binder tobaccos was developed. Due to growing demand, in 2004 production was transferred to Pinar del Río, the heart of the Vuelta Abajo tobacco region.

All Trinidad cigars are crafted using the traditional Tripa Larga, Totalmente a Mano method—long filler, totally handmade—ensuring the highest quality construction and a refined smoking experience. Distinguished by their fragrant, aromatic character and elegant medium-bodied strength, Trinidad cigars remain one of the most prestigious and sought-after Cuban cigar brands in the world.
